When you join our Community Supported Fishery (CSF),
you're making a difference. Sustaining healthier fisheries. Creating local jobs. Supporting the people who fish for us.
Here’s how it works.
You order your share of
seafood.
Deeper dive: What’s a share size?
No two fish are exactly the same, which only makes sense. And since we handle each fish individually, our hand-cut methods mean that no two pieces are exactly the same either.
But here’s what really matters. You sign up as a member and you get 10-pound box (about 14 loins) or a 5-pound box (about 7 loins). Pickup or delivery four times a year.
Or make a one-time purchase of a 10-pound box (about 14 loins) or a 5-pound box (about 7 loins).
Each loin is around 12 ounces, or two servings, give or take. In other words, they don’t look like they’re cut on a machine. Because they’re not.
And we think that’s a good thing. Unique fish make for unique cuts. Unique, like you.
Deeper dive: Why do I pay up front?
Fishing is expensive business. And we know we can’t do this alone. That’s where you come in. This is a movement. And a movement requires a community.
So the shares you buy allow us to head out on the open ocean and do what we do best: catch abundant, young Northwest Pacific albacore during their summer migration.
And our albacore rates a ‘Best Choice’ from Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch, so your purchase helps create a positive impact on the industry. And ensures healthier fisheries and ecosystems for future generations.
We go out and land
your fish.
Deeper dive: Where and how do you fish?
From July to October, we fish the waters off Oregon and Washington for the highest quality Pacific seafood.
Our traditional hook and line method ensures minimal by-catch. So we catch what we mean to catch. Which means the stock can replenish itself at the rate we fish it. To us, that’s the very definition of sustainability.
We fish by hand. With care and intention. We land each fish with a net, immediately bleed it, and then chill it in a saltwater ice slurry for the trip back to port.
Deeper dive: How does this benefit the local community?
We do more than just purvey delicious, healthy seafood. Those four months allow us to provide strong, steady, seasonal work for our crew, our employees, and our community.
“I really appreciate the way you guys operate—your respect for the environment and the fish. The taste is so superior. We love it grilled, seared, or asceviche. Tre-Fin tuna has ruined me for other tuna!”
— Kerry Jeffrey, Day Boat Tuna CSF member
“It's like living with someone who fishes. My only concern is that 10-pounds won't last until the next pickup!”
— Piper Davis, Mixed Day Boat Seafood CSF member
"Tre-Fin is the only tuna I will buy. Grilled or smoked, for poke and sushi, my family absolutely loves it. Keep up the good work!"
-Steve Lamb, Day Boat Tuna CSF member
You get the highest-quality seafood.
Deeper dive: What about fish quality and health?
Glad you asked. In a word, unparalleled.
We believe our Pacific albacore is absolutely the healthiest and highest-quality seafood you’ll find. And healthier fish means healthier food.
Our albacore are three to four years old, averaging 20 pounds, and are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. Plus, these juvenile fish haven’t had time to accumulate significant quantities of mercury found in older, larger tuna.
This all adds up to Tre-Fin tuna being one of the healthiest
Deeper dive: How do I get my fish?
In a word, easily! We love our CSF members, so we want to make it easy for you to pick up your order.
If you don’t see an option that works for you, let us know. We’ll find a way to bring you together with your fish!
Pick up in Portland at Wilder Land & Sea four times a year. Get it at multiple farmers markets. Meet us in Ilwaco, or we’ll ship to you. Available year-round, or whenever you want.
Eat, enjoy, repeat.
Deeper dive: Are you on some kind of mission?
Yep! We’re helping connect more people more directly with their food. And you’re helping us prove that new methods and a fresh approach can succeed in shaking up the fishing industry.
You bet! Our albacore is rated a ‘Best Choice’ from Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch, so your support helps us promote a healthy sea and sustainable fisheries for future generations. Feel confident knowing who caught your fish, where it was caught and how.
